⭐️ The article in the Guardian talks about the relationship between singing in young children and their language development. Sally Goddard Blythe, the author of The Genius of Natural Childhood, says that the lullabies, songs and rhymes of each culture reflect the unique melody of the language so that the music prepares the child for the language. One of the most striking pieces of information in the article, which I fully agree with, is that children’s reaction to live music is different than their reaction to recorded music. In other words, playing music from a computer, phone or CD does not replace direct singing for the child. One should not think “My voice is not beautiful, I can’t sing, this has been done here” and should sing many songs to the children. In my experience, they often participate and become part of the experience. Even if they are not, we still contribute to the skills of listening and understanding.
